QlikConnect
Hi Frankmed, The most detailed product info about QlikView can be found at the site of QlikTech at www.qlikview.com where you also can download the personal edition of QlikView that enables you to start getting your feet wet and dive in the world of QlikView. This personal edition will let you develop your applications and analyze your data straight away. However, it will not be possible to open the application developed with a personal edition on a different machine also running a personal edition (QlikTech needs to make some money also). The platform architecture is windows based. As for the characteristics of a workstation in general (and also for a QlikView server) it can be said that the program will be more happy when it is filled with more RAM. The licensing will be much depending on the kind of solution that you will be choosing. Workstation only / Small Business Server / Enterprise edition, the number of client licences, etc. Details about the pricing should be obtained by a QlikView reseller or you should be able to find the details on the QlikTech website. The kinds of connections to your data is huge and SQL Server is not really a problem using a ODBC connection to your SQL Server (not sure about SSAS). Is your SSAS retrieving the data from a staging server on which the dimension and fact tables are stored? Is so, just point your ODBC connection to those tables. Hope to have informed you sufficiently.
